Member Spotlight: Colleen Totten

While looking for our first featured member at Echelon, we realized there is one person who it could be.

Colleen Totten is one of Echelon's first and most dedicated members. She signed up as one of our charter members and was the first person to walk through the door on opening day.

She's has tried everything the gym has to offer while checking in 200 times in 200 days back in 2016!

Continue reading to learn more about Colleen and her experience at the gym.

Tell us a little about yourself?

I will be 60 years old on March 17th, people say I don’t look it and I definitely don’t act it. I live my life like today is my last day. I don’t take anything for granted. I believe that everyone has a purpose in life and I really think mine is to help people.

When did you first start as a member of Echelon?

I actually joined before they even opened their doors and I was the first member on opening day come in.

What is your favorite thing about working out at Echelon?

I love the classes that you can take, but I think what I really love is the atmosphere of the gym. It feels like your with family no one is judging you . The positive energy that Echelon gives off is amazing I have to say I give the credit for this to the owners Dave and Susie Chung.

How have you used the MemberPERX program?

I've used the MemberPERX program for a lot of eating out and saving money, but my big savings was when I booked a trip last year with Deanna's Travel. She saved me over $400.00. I told another member about her and she booked her honeymoon and saved $1,100. She didn’t know about the perx but she does now.

Colleen checking in for her 200th workout, in a row!

What have you gained from working out with Thrive?

I have gained so much from Thrive. I am stronger now that I have ever been in my life. I have always been a confident person, but once I started training I had people say they can see a difference in me. Its not just the weight coming off and building muscle, its something inside of you that changes and it shows on the outside. I have gained friendships that I truly care about. We also push each other during the work out sessions.

What is your favorite class to take?

I would say the Aqua class. You get a great work out and all three of the instructors make the classes fun, while still kicking our butts

What is your favorite post-workout snack?

Protein bar

What would you say to someone just getting started on your fitness journey?

I would say that everyone here has been where you are now and that you made a choice to come here. It will only get better each time that you step foot into the building. You have the support of people around you. Don’t ever give up.

Anything else you would like to add?

When I first started training with Trey, I thought 'What have I got myself into?' He is an intense trainer, and I was hearing things like 'Oh your going to train with Trey, I could never, he’s to intense.'

Well I was so glad I went with Trey. He pushes me and has nothing but positive energy when he is training you. He has never given up on me even when I didn’t think something was possible. I can now do an 85 pound sumo squat, push a 160 pounds on a sled push and can do on the floor push ups. I can’t wait until my next session.

Loved reading about Colleen’s journey — it really captures how consistency and community shape long-term motivation. That balance between discipline and having something fun to unwind with is so real. For me, after busy weeks staying active and focused, I sometimes switch my brain off with small things that don’t require effort. Lately that’s been the idontlikeyouinthatway platform — nothing intense, just a light, familiar way to relax for a few minutes. It’s funny how tiny habits outside fitness can help you reset and stay energized overall.

Pips NYT is my go-to game during breaks. It’s quick to play, but still gives your brain a good workout. I enjoy how the puzzles start easy and slowly build up in complexity, keeping me motivated to continue.

When you download QuickBooks, you get full control over when to update or upgrade your software. Unlike cloud systems that paygration auto-update without warning, downloadable versions let you test new updates at your convenience, ensuring your financial operations continue smoothly without unexpected interruptions.

Hey, love seeing these member spotlights—great inspiration! I run a fitness coaching side gig, and getting payments sorted was a struggle, especially for international clients. A colleague suggested https://corefy.com/ , and it’s been a game-changer. It pulls together all my payment methods—cards, PayPal, you name it—into one dashboard. Clients pay easily, and I’ve cut down on failed transactions. Plus, the analytics help me track what’s working. If you’re managing payments for coaching or services, Corefy’s a solid pick—made my life easier based on my experience.
